On Thursday 17 September, the Museum will stay open late from 5pm to 8pm. We’re inviting the community to enjoy an evening of activities celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, with a flexible programme designed to give everyone an opportunity to learn, participate and have a go.

Try your hand at raranga (traditional Māori weaving and plaiting) with Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Join Timara Wallace, Kaiwhakaako Māori/Māori Educator, for waiata and kapa haka, or explore whakataukī through light art with Natasha Priddle, Pou Mātauranga/Team Leader Education. Plus enjoy performances by rangatahi/youth speakers.

You don’t need to be experienced — everyone is welcome. Watch, listen or jump in and have a go. The activities are flexible, so you can move between sessions and take part as much or as little as you like.
