Discover live music in the heart of Whanganui Regional Museum with the Saturday Sounds session.

Held in the Museum’s Atrium, this Saturday afternoon series celebrates talented local and visiting musicians across a diverse range of styles, creating a relaxed live music experience in the unique surroundings of the Museum.

On 5 December we feature a talented emerging singer–songwriter, Leah Thomson. Her songwriting is influenced by Lizzy McAlpine, Joni Mitchell, Adrianne Lenker, and Nick Drake and touches on experiences that are both deeply personal and familiar to all of us. Her voice is tender and strong and blends with her intricate melodies on acoustic guitar to create an intimate atmosphere that has you holding your breath. Fresh from ten days in Los Angeles at A Cappella Academy – an intensive singing camp for young people from around the world – Leah will be performing new material alongside rich personal covers of favourites from the genre.

The performance will run for about an hour. Admission is free, no booking is required. Koha entry is appreciated. All welcome.
