To coincide with the Costume & Textile Association of New Zealand Symposium 2026, a series of pop-up demonstrations will be held in the Museum atrium space. These informal, drop-in sessions offer a chance to see skilled makers at work, explore a wide range of textile and craft techniques, and chat with passionate practitioners. Whether you stay for a few minutes or linger a little longer, there’s always something to discover.

Spinning with Debbie Hunt

Experience the transformation of fibre into yarn with Debbie Hunt. Visitors can try spinning for themselves and take home a small sample of their efforts. Debbie will also showcase a variety of fibres—including alpaca, angora, silk, and wool—while explaining their unique qualities and uses. An engaging, hands-on introduction to the wonders of fibre craft.

All welcome.
