The rich world of dress and textiles is celebrated at the 2026 Costume and Textile Association Symposium in Whanganui — Aotearoa New Zealand’s only UNESCO City of Design. From 8–10 May, the Whanganui Regional Museum will host a vibrant weekend of talks, displays, and connections exploring Haerenga/Journeys: the many ways dress and textiles move through time, place, and culture.

Makers, researchers, and enthusiasts will share in the stories, histories, and creative forces that continue to shape textiles and design in Aotearoa and beyond.
