Whanganui Regional Museum
Discover live music in the heart of Whanganui Regional Museum with the Saturday Sounds session.
Held in the Museum’s Atrium, this Saturday afternoon series celebrates talented local and visiting musicians across a diverse range of styles, creating a relaxed live music experience in the unique surroundings of the Museum.
On 14 November we welcome song-writing duo Beat Up.
Local singer-writer Robbie Oscroft loves Whanganui and people – this shines through in his lyrics. His songs are inspired by daily life, imagining we are all living in a musical. He is a multi-instrumentalist so expect to be entertained!
Robbie is accompanied by Heather Cotton with her theatrical background, experience from playing music around the country and a love of engaging her audience. Heather brings powerful vocals, sweet harmonies and punchy basslines to the ensemble.
The duo will mostly perform original music composed in Whanganui, with a few reimagined favourites from the 20th century.
The performance will run for about an hour. Admission is free, no booking is required. Koha entry is appreciated. All welcome.
Whether you’re discovering a new artist, enjoying live music with friends, or simply looking for a relaxing outing, Saturday Sounds is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook and Instagram pages for upcoming performances.
