Step into the world of Edwardian fashion with April’s Ko te Kākahu o te Marama / Outfit of the Month. This elegant 1906 Mother-of-the-Groom ensemble, worn by Celia Hall and made by her daughter Esther, reveals the style and social expectations surrounding weddings in the early 20th century.
Join Kaihāpai Taonga / General Curator, Dr Sue Garside, for a fascinating talk exploring the story behind the outfit, from its tailored silhouette and intricate detailing to the remarkable life of the woman who wore it.
Everyone is welcome. No need to book. Admission is free. Koha for the Museum is always appreciated. The dress will remain on display throughout April.
