Join us for our next lunchtime fashion talk when we feature a 19th-century mourning outfit, likely worn by Harriet Mary Tripe after the death of her husband in 1899. The ensemble is an example of the strict mourning practices observed in Victorian and Edwardian society.

Trish Nugent-Lyne, Pou Tiaki/Collections & Curatorial Lead, and Harriet Tripe’s great grandson, Mayor of Whanganui Andrew Tripe, will share the story of Harriet and her dress.

Everyone is welcome. No need to book. Admission is free. Koha for the Museum is always appreciated. The dress will remain on display throughout September.
