This autumn, the Whanganui Regional Museum invites children aged seven and over to take part in a series of fun, hands-on craft activities during the school holidays. From printmaking to clay modeling and imaginative Easter crafts, there’s something for every young creator to enjoy.
Explore Printmaking – Tuesday, 15 April
In the Introduction to Printmaking session, kids will explore the art of stamping, woodblock printing, and even try their hand at using a printing press. This engaging workshop encourages creative expression through hands-on experimentation.
DIY Animal Headbands – Thursday, 17 April
Let your imagination run wild and design your own Animal Headband—no sewing required! Whether it’s bunny ears for an Easter egg hunt or leopard ears for wild adventures, kids can craft their own unique look.
Easter Keychains – Tuesday, 22 April
Beginner sculptors will learn the basics of working with polymer and air-dry clay to make a personalised Easter Keychain. This short workshop is perfect for budding makers keen to experiment with new materials.
Build a Bunny Burrow – Thursday, 24 April
Inspired by hobbit holes and fairy doors, this Bunny Burrow craft session lets kids make the coziest, cutest home for their Easter bunny. A fun-filled opportunity to mix creativity with imagination.
“We love seeing young minds engaged in hands-on creativity,” says Max Reeves, Pou Manaaki/Visitor Experience Lead. “These workshops are a fantastic way for kids to explore new crafts, develop their skills, and have a great time in the Museum space.”

Bookings are essential for each session. Participation is by koha or by a small fee where noted. All activities require adult supervision.
